Pensamento da madrugada

The Man and the Kid have been playing poker for hours. In the final hand the Kid thinks he’s got the Man by the balls. It’s not about money, although there’s plenty to go around on top of the table. It’s about being the best, becoming “the man”. The kid is sure he’s going to beat the Man. Yet, he loses. And then:

The Man: Gets down to what it's all about, doesn't it? Making the wrong move at the right time.
The Kid: Is that what it's all about?
The Man: Like life, I guess. You're good, kid, but as long as I'm around you're second best. You might as well learn to live with it.

In The Cincinnati Kid.
